Warning: If you're not open-minded or easily angered by things that rely on opinion and perspective I suggest you not read this....but that's your choice :U I'm just saying what I think and believe and it's not to PERSUADE you to do or think anything, I'm doing this because I'd like for people to have multiple perspectives in life and maybe if you read this, you can show ME a new perspective and how YOU look at things(but if you do, please tell me politely; especially if you disagree.) Let's try to be mature here~

wow there are a toonnnnn of complaints about ocs :U

i myself, am very antsy about this as well because my oc isn't exactly the greatest either :iconmingplz:

but before I go to ranting, let me just say this; WHERE DID ALL THE FUN GO ;A; like I totally understand that you would feel offended if someone's oc portrayed your country like a total idiot or something or was offensive or COMPLETELY inaccurate, but I just wanna tell ya'll something that might ease your thinking a bit....HETALIA. IS AN ANIME/MANGA/WEBCOMIC. WHO IS TO SAY THAT THAT PERSON'S PARTICULAR OC, IS GOING TO REPRESENT WHO THE COUNTRY/CITY/STATE/ETC REALLY IS?! I know, I'm a hypocrite for saying that, and if I've ever pushed you, insulted you, taunted, been mean, angry, etc; IM SORRY. genuinely sorry. deeply sorry. I have no right to insult you for something and judge others for making a bad OC, especially for something like Hetalia. BUT I WILL say however, there is reason why none of these OCs are canon, because they're OCs and Himaruya-sensei is the man. We're not. And even before you go hating me, there ARE people who find Hetalia rather offensive in character and the humor doesn't suit them.

For example, I myself was a bit insulted and stumped at China's character at first. When the others ignored him or when he offered sweets and foods and the others didn't want them. Also how the others just diss him off at certain points and a TONNNN of limelight was on Japan and stuff(for me at least. its an opinion. you can go ahead and have your own. i aint stopping ya.). and I know that Himaruya is Japanese, but you can't help but feel that there is some amount of bias on these subjects. If you analyze Hetalia closely, you can tell that at some points it is seen mostly from the Japanese viewpoint. And ITALIANS, most of my italian friends HATE hetalia for the reason of how Italy was portrayed as a babyish, cowardly character with almost no guts. And I know it may be hard to understand, as I'm not Italian(though I was raised in an Italian colony), and I don't find the character insulting. But when you ARE that character's nationality, I guess it seems pretty insulting at some point.

Now back to OCs, if you're going to complain just know that this is the internet and we live in a GODDAMN BIG WORLD. Their OCs aren't going to represent everyone OFFICIALLY and you don't HAVE to look at that OC. Sure we all do, because history is a sensitive topic; I myself have hated certain OCs for their obscurity and absolute mindless creation but I now realize, I can choose to IGNORE that fact because they aren't OFFICIAL and they're not going to OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZE the whole population of people. There are always exceptions. And I understand; it's frustrating and maddening to see someone make an OC of your nationality or someplace you really know a lot about and admire, but you don't have to push it on the creator. The creator doesnt know, or doesn't care. So, if they ain't gonna care then WE shall try not to care. There are BILLIONS of people and there could be a whole MYRIAD OF OCs. BAD ONES.

Now don't get me wrong, I never said mine was any better. I haven't gotten any hate letters or death threats(though sometimes I really think I should) but I made an OC cause I thought it would be FUN. yea that's right, nothing's better in this world when you're ENJOYING something and you love something with your heart and spirit. There will always be a downside but just ignore it. If it comes back to haunt you, do something polite and mature about it. If there's some REALLLYYYYYY bad OC you see or something, just ignore it; there are plenty of other good ones and if not, MAKE YOUR OWN. and if you say "im too lazy to make my own" is shows that you're a criticizer AND a bit of a hypocrite. Making an OC is NOT easy and if you're making your own right now, study and have FUN making your character.

And if you're wondering, sometimes it's difficult to make a character's personality and such, especially if your character has been around since like the beginning of mankind. I applaud Himaruya for making characters as best he could and putting the effort into his work. You should keep in mind however, that certain characters like South Korea angered MANY MANY MANY people; particularly those who WERE Korean. Just another example of what can happen in the world of well...the WORLD. (( in fact, there were online petitions and all sorts of crazy stuff because of that) and if anyone is wondering WHY; it's because Himaruya portrayed South Korea as a bit of a perv, a thief of culture(and claiming them as his own), and a person who praised Japan- the reason is because of the fact that Hetalia is based around WWII. The Japanese empire ruled over Korea; and Korea had to naturally praise and support Japan because they were being ruled by harsh old Japan. Now think back to when I said that Hetalia was somewhat biased, if it had been created by a Korean; obviously the Korean creator would've made his Korea character with all the GOOD attributes of Korean society. I'm glad Himaruya at least put some consideration in making a character of his own nationality and didn't totally make Japan some handsome bishie who's talented in EVERYTHING and good at EVERYTHING and has NO BAD HABITS and such. Good job Himaruya-sensei!!!!

Andddd for my last argument I shall defend the OCs of cities/states/provinces/etc~ Of course, this all depends where you're from. Himaruya HAS ACTUALLY made characters for the provinces of China though many of them left unnamed/unintroduced. Provinces are on the same level as municipalities, which means that they have their own government and special rules and stuff so I can believe that there is also a Shanghai, Beijing, or Chongqing or Tianjin. And if you want to be more specific, the "Four Great Ancient Capitals of China" is legit and I already went over this but Xi'an represents ALL THOSE FOUR CITIES. But of course, I need a name for her; and Xi'an and Luoyang were probably more acceptable than anything else and Xi'an sounds prettier too ovo

Also, if anyone's confused, this is more based on personal thought butttttttttt to me, a country is defined by the cities and people within its boundaries. of course, it's different for each region but in Asia, a country is typically formed when a bunch of villages and some royalty claims certain areas to be theirs and a "country" is formed. Honestly, China is only called that by others outside of Asia, China is called "Zhong Guo" meaning "Middle Kingdom" and developed when cities/villages/towns came together. Therefore I can use the reasoning that Xi'an(or Luoyang) isn't related to China because I think that cities are separate from their country "superiors" if you will, and grow up together. However because the country is the big thing, it leads to the country getting older FASTER by just a bit and therefore the country gets older than the city. Luoyang was the first city to have been "discovered" that "founded" China in the first place so I like to think of it as, the city helped DEVELOP and FOUND the country therefore is SEPARATE; like Prussia(not going to explain, its going to take forever).
Also, Himaruya stated that the provinces in China's house aren't necessarily "family" but more as  "disciples" of China. China's "family" for example would consist of the countries he's influenced like Japan, Taiwan(a bit controversial), Vietnam, etc. Same with Japan's provinces and islands as well as Okinawa(this one I'd have to explain further), they're referred to as "Japan's disciples", not so much family o3o. This idea of course, varies from region to region, country to country, etc~ and there, that is my reasoning as to why Xi'an is(was) not China's "family" to begin with.

Anyway, if you're sorta lost at this point let me just summarize my main point to you:

1) If you see a really bad OC, you don't have to go hating. Just ignore it because just be content in the fact that THAT particular OC will NOT be official and WON'T matter to anyone because NO ONE is saying that THAT OC IS GOING TO EFFIN REPRESENT THAT COUNTRY ALRIGHT?! There are MANY MANY MANY people in the world, each different in knowledge, background, thinking, etc; you can't stop people from thinking different things so just IGNORE, even if it drives you off the wall. I'll do my best too and not be a damn hypocrite ^^

2) If you're making an OC, please study so that it doesn't happen to you and IF YOU ARE getting hate or misunderstanding, PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY the character has those traits or is the way he/she is so that people can SEE WHY you think that and UNDERSTAND things like that. Open up new perspectives so everyone can be more diverse and open-minded.

3) If an OC's insulting, maybe explain(not rant. explain calmly, politely, and maturely.) why it is insulting and maybe give a few tips; if the person is not complying, just ignore. ignore, ignore, ignoreee~~

4) I have my reasons and I know my OC isn't the best, but I try people. I really do :I

5) JUST HAVE FUN. HETALIA IS FUN. HIMARUYA MADE HISTORY FUN. NOT FOR US TO GET AL HISSY AT EACH OTHER AND SPREAD HATE. SPREAD PASTA. AND LOVE. AND FUN. AND PANDAS. AND STUFF YOU WANT TO SPREAD like butter

((WHOA I WROTE A LOT )) If I get hate, that's alright. But I just wanted to get this off my chest because it was really bothering me and i'll be honest I was feeling a bit out of place and insecure OTL I just said what I thought and I hope you'll understand. Also I hoped I opened your view of the world or opinions of whatever xD Anywayyyy, if you want to show me YOUR perspective, go ahead! >U< I would love to see how ya think, just do it politely and mature-like kay? And no hard feelings, I don't hate anyone; hate is a STRONG STRONGG STRONGGGGG word. I don't use it, unless the time calls for it o3o so yeaaa..... thank ya for your time and if you read all that YOU GET A BUNCH OF COOKIES AND A NEW PERSPECTIVE OF THE WONDERFUL WORLD WE LIVE IN. you're awesome |D and stuff c:

kk, thank ya'll for your time and such >U< have a wonderful day/night/whatever!! >U<

My standing point on the topic is this,
What makes Hetalia alright with it's comical and stereotypical nature, is that the show picks on EVERYBODY. It was designed to make people laugh, spark interest in history, and bring up sensitive topics in a new light and perspective. As a professional, Himaruya wouldn't want to show a race as inferior, or evil. In fact, I found that he gives his characters redeeming qualities too.

Germany is a country most often portrayed as the most evil country of all during WW2. What I found to be amazing is Himaruya, gave Germany emotions... he cares about his friends... he isn't a monster... all he is doing is following orders, like the entire country of Germany was actually doing in real history. He was just unfortunate enough that his boss was mentally insane.

America, yes, his character is a little idiotic, and obnoxious, but he fights for freedom and making the world better for everybody.

Italy is also an idot, but to be honest, Italy is the most innocent and kind-hearted of them all.

I can run on and on....

OC's are similar, every one that I have saw also have redeeming qualities too, and it's not right to come in and bash someone over petty things. All it does is hinder creativity. Deviant art is so big that all you have to do is leave and you may never see that OC ever again.
(sorry, I kind of wrote a book there :iconsweatplz: )

((I read it all.COOKIE PLEASE. O3O )) Hm.Yeah.I see why some people would be offended by some Hetalia characters. For example, America is portrayed as a burger eating, video game playing idiot who can't read the atmosphere and constantly calls himself the hero, France portrayed as a complete pervert who is kinda weak, and Prussia portrayed as another kinda self-centered idiot.I'm part French and Prussian so I kinda find all that stuff offensive.Nobody can blame the Italians and Koreans for hating Hetalia. People have to admit Hetalia IS kinda racist.I also see why people would find a poorly made OC offensive. It's great when people are mature about things like that.I find it kinda stupid when people are so immature about things.Like when somebody gets trolled, some people will troll back and act immature, and some people will just shrug it off.

(( I agree with most of the things you said but for one; I think Hetalia isn't racist. The definition of "racist" is someone who puts DOWN or slanders another race. I find that Hetalia is "stereotypical". There is a difference, while Hetalia is filled with those, Himaruya is basing most of his charactersfrom stats and the "Japanese" view of the Americans of Italians or anyone for that matter. Hetalia doesn't say outright that "oh this race is bad and oh this race is stupid" etc etc etc however I DO understand that it can be slightly racist to the Italians, the way the are portrayed but nonetheless, it was merely the "Japanese" view of things and it didn't outright slander anyone. ))
